what is Te whare tapa whā ?

Te whare tapa whā is a concept meaning  the walls of your health House. In Te whare tapa whā there are 4 Groups :

  1. Taha Hinengaro – Mental and emotional health
  2. Taha Whānau – Social well being
  3. Taha Wairua – spiritual
  4. Taha Tinana – Physical health

There are the category’s of Te whare Tapa whā (also known as the walls of our Health House !!). The reason It is also known as out health house is because If one of the walls fell down it affects the other 3 walls.

Today’s activity :

Today in health class we played water pong !

water pong is kind of physical and social Game so that helps with Taha Whānau (Social) and Taha Tinana (Physical). But anyways this is how to play the game :

  1. Get into an even group
  2. Set up ten cups (10 cups each team) and place them in a triangle shape
  3. Fill up all the cups with water
  4. Then let each team have a go (team by team)

And that’s how you play !! My favourite Part of the game is watching everybody fumble trying to remember who went first and who goes next and who’s already gone !!

Anyways that’s all for today’s blog see you next time.

  1. Hi Tovie

Water pong sounds like a lot of fun.
Do you stack the cups on top of each other or just move them around the table?

What other team games do you know of that are simple for everyone to remember how to play?

    Kind regards
